Services for U.S. Citizens Abroad

For U.S. citizens living or traveling overseas, timely, local support matters. Barella Global is a U.S. immigration firm staffed by U.S.-licensed attorneys and U.S. citizen professionals. From citizenship documentation (passports, CRBAs) to strategic family sponsorship visas and spousal sponsorship green cards, we provide end-to-end guidance at U.S. consular posts and other government agencies responsible for immigration processing.

Who Can Benefit From Our U.S. Citizen Services

U.S. citizens residing in the UK and Europe (short- or long-term), dual nationals, traveling professionals, and families with children born abroad who need clear, practical counsel and on-the-ground support.

Citizenship For Children: Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA)

We prepare CRBA applications for children born outside the United States to qualifying U.S. citizen parent(s), advise on transmission rules, and prepare U.S. passport applications. CRBAs should be filed before the child’s 18th birthday—earlier is better.

Family Sponsorship & Spousal Green Cards (Immigrant Visas)

Our team assists U.S. citizens abroad to sponsor eligible relatives for U.S. permanent residence (green cards), including marriage-based cases. Where appropriate, we prepare and submit direct filing requests to local U.S. consular posts to shorten the overall timeline. Visit our family sponsorship visa page for additional information.

Example: Our London-based spousal sponsorship visa lawyer regularly prepares direct filing requests for the U.S. Embassy in London and guides clients through document assembly, interview preparation, and post-approval steps.

We also manage complex history (prior refusals, inadmissibility, waivers) and coordinate DS-260s, civil/financial evidence, and interview strategy.

U.S. Passports (Apply/Renew)

End-to-end assistance for first-time and renewal U.S. passport applications abroad, including evidence, name changes, and coordination of in-person appointments at post.

Renunciation of U.S. Citizenship

Renunciation is serious and irrevocable. We provide an impartial overview of the legal process, eligibility, appointment preparation, and expected timeframes at post. (We do not offer tax advice; for tax matters, consult a qualified U.S. tax professional.)

Emergency & Arrest Support: What We (and Posts) Can/Can’t Do

If a U.S. citizen is detained abroad, we can help you liaise with with the appropriate U.S. consular post.

Embassies/Consulates generally can: provide attorney lists; visit detainees; help ensure access to medical care; contact family with consent.

They cannot: get someone out of jail, give legal advice, serve as interpreters, or pay legal/medical fees.
